DAY 1:

This is the first day of the Planaria Lab. Mr. Greisbach gave out the materials, and we received 6 planaria. We made our cuts on each one. We received 3 dishes, and we put 2 planaria in each. All of them are moving well, and are alive.

DAY 2:

Both cut parts are moving. The tail end is moving by elongating and contracting. The head is not moving as much, probably because it is very short. There seems to be some heeling in the tail part, where we made the head split, it looks like an extended cytoplasm. We changed the water today to prevent foulness.

DAY 3:

All 12 pieces are alive. There seems to be no dramatic change. When I looked at all the Planaria under the microscope, they all seem to be cut properly. We did not change the water today. The heads and tails are swimming slowly.

DAY 4:

All signs look the same as yesterday. It seems that the heads have grown longer. The bodies seem to be the same. They are all looking in good alive condition. The cut we made on the bodies seems to have closed up on some.

DAY 5:

All the planaria in one container died. We think it is because one died and fouled the water. The tails in the other two containers seem to be growing, but only one head, rather than two. We made the cut deeper. We also changed the water once again.

DAY 6:

All the heads have regenerated completely. The bodied that were cut seem to have grown back into a normal Planaria instead of one with two heads. The bodies regenerated slower because the heads are more complex and need more time to develop.

DAY 7:

It is the last day of the experiment, and the head portions grew back fully in to completely new planarians. The tail half was contrary to our hypothesis. Instead of growing two heads, it grew only one.
